Africa Ghana Tours

History, Tradition, Culture

I’m a paragraph

Today you will be shown a few tour sites that will highlight some of Ghana's culture history and traditions. Black Star Square, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum, and W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Centre. Each venue has its own Site Tour guides that will take you through the logistics and foundational details.

The Du Bois Centre is a library to commemorate the late W.E.B DuBois. The centre consists of the museum which contains memorabilia and his personal library, the Open Air Theatre where intellectual seminars, lectures and workshops are held along with cultural events. In addition is the ‘Marcus Garvey’ guest house. The Centre was established in 1985 by the Ghana government to encourage visitors to contemplate the ideals to Pan Africanism and to reflect upon the work of Dr. Du Bois. The W .E. B. DuBois Centre for Pan African Culture was dedicated on 22nd June 1985 in Accra, Ghana. Dr. DuBois was referred to as the “Father of Pan Africanism” for organizing several Pan African congresses in the early half of the last century.

Makola Market was constructed in Accra in 1924 and stood at the heart of the urban Ghanaian life. The market was the main wholesale and retail marketplace in Accra, the epicenter of trade in the country and one of the nation's most important social and cultural institutions. Makola Market is a renowned market place and shopping district in the centre of the city of Accra, the capital of Ghana.[1] A wide array of products is sold in the markets and its surrounding streets, from car parts to land snails. Dominated by women traders, the market sells fresh produce, manufactured and imported foods, clothes, shoes, tools, medicines, and pots and pans. Engage in this overcrowded district full of entrepreneurs looking to patronize and make a sale. It's fast paced and exciting experience.

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park was one of the largest slave markets for gathering people to sell into slavery during the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade. It is especially worth seeing as a prelude to viewing Cape Coast slave castle since you will be following the route taken by the ancestors of many African Americans. Assin Manso served as the place where slaves had their last bath on their journey.

Shai Hills Resource Reserve, and hike through the savannah plains to view bushbucks, kobs, antelopes, monkeys, baboons, etc. In addition to the natural beauty and game viewing potential of the reserve, you could also enjoy the pleasure of visiting Obonu tem and Se yo caves on the Hioweyo and Sayu hills. The protected area was home to the Shai people before they were ejected by the British in 1892. A great place to experience wildlife, rock climb, hike, and enjoy an extraordinary view from the mountain top.

About Us

How We Got Started

Africa Ghana Tours all started from a conversation the owner had with his Uncle about the misconceptions some Ghanaians had toward black Americans in the diaspora.  His uncle was the 1st to enlighten him that it was some of us who actually handed our own people over to slave owners to trade for personal profit. We realizing the important thing now is to create change. We now embrace that our extended family have remembered their culture and are able to visit and even relocate back to the motherland. Africa Your Home Awaits You!!  This is An Unbeatable Value!
